MRI
Diagnostic Imaging
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an imaging technique used to produce high-quality images of the inside of the human body. MRI scanners use strong magnetic fields, magnetic gradients, and radio waves to generate images. Our beautiful MRI suite offers an inviting and calming atmosphere to help relieve patient anxiety. Canon’s Vantage Titan 1.5 Tesla is an ultra-short, wide-bore design that helps to accommodate larger patients and reduce claustrophobia.
PREPARATION
MRI exams require little preparation. Take your daily medications and eat normally unless instructed otherwise. For your safety, any medication patches or glucose monitoring patches will need to be removed before the examination. Per our policy, you will be asked to change into a pair of scrubs and place your belongings in a locker. We kindly ask for all valuables to be left at home, including jewelry.
Rarely, some patients are claustrophobic and are anxious about having this exam. Your physician may order a mild sedative if appropriate and safe for you. In such cases, you must be accompanied by someone who will drive you home.
Appointments available 8 am – 4 pm Monday-Friday
